Vasutha was diagnosed with leprosy when she was pregnant with her third child. “I found white patches on my skin. I was unaware and ignorant. The patches were spreading and I was scared. The doctor asked me to take medication. It was a nightmare; I was worried about my baby. During these difficult times, our neighbours, relatives and friends didn’t want to know us. We were unwanted in the community. However, The Leprosy Mission supported us emotionally, mentally, and in many other ways."
“I am always happy to inspire others and to share my story with the community. I do not want anyone to undergo the same trauma. I gave birth to a healthy baby and today I am really proud to let the world know that we are a happy, healthy family.
